Position Description

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Tampa, Florida.

Pay & Schedule
  • $27.50 per hour
  • Certification bonus up to $700 for each new ASE certification
  • Quarterly bonus up to $500
  • Schedule:

    Monday – Friday, Second Shift 3 PM – 11 30 PM

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or other technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work
  • Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder drug test
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (drug and alcohol verification from last 3 years)
Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard maintenance and repairs
  • Perform preventive maintenance and component inspections
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers as applicable
  • Identify root causes of failures and perform required repairs
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Maintain facility equipment and perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints and provide solutions
  • Use shop management system and electronic documentation
  • Comply with all federal, provincial, and corporate safety, DOT, MOT, and other compliance guidelines
  • Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including service island support
