Position Description
Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Tampa, Florida.
Pay & Schedule- $27.50 per hour
- Certification bonus up to $700 for each new ASE certification
- Quarterly bonus up to $500
- Schedule:
Monday – Friday, Second Shift 3 PM – 11 30 PM
- Medical, Dental, Vision after 30 days
- 80 hours PTO first year, starting Day 1

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification; post‑secondary degree or other technical certifications preferred
- Basic tools required
- Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work
- Two (2) years or more of combined classroom training and work experience preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (drug and alcohol verification from last 3 years)
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard maintenance and repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance and component inspections
- Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers as applicable
- Identify root causes of failures and perform required repairs
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Maintain facility equipment and perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints and provide solutions
- Use shop management system and electronic documentation
- Comply with all federal, provincial, and corporate safety, DOT, MOT, and other compliance guidelines
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including service island support
