The Fleet Mechanic position is responsible for maintaining vehicle/equipment by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle/equipment deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records. The position works under the direction of the Fleet Manager and is accountable for the tasks of troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining production and facility vehicle/equipment to support daily work activities while maintaining safety objectives and company processes.

• Work on construction vehicle/equipment
• Determine vehicle/equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identify worn and damaged parts
• Maintain vehicle/equipment availability by completing preventive maintenance schedules; install component and part upgrades; control corrosion; complete winterization procedures
• Correct vehicle/equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub‑assemblies, components, parts, or systems (e.g., power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics); perform machine shop operations; make adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units
• Verify vehicle/equipment performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems
• Comply with federal and state vehicle/equipment requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
• Maintain vehicle/equipment appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting
• Maintain vehicle/equipment records by annotating services and repairs
• Keep shop vehicle/equipment operational by following operating instructions; troubleshoot breakdowns; maintain supplies; perform preventive maintenance; call for repairs
• Contain costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options
• Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt

• Willing to travel to different branch locations as needed using company‑provided service truck; may require occasional overnight stay
• ASE Certified preferred but not mandatory
• Electrical and drivability diagnostic experience – required
• 1–3 years of mechanic experience with diesel and gas engines for on‑highway vehicles
• Light/Medium/Heavy Duty Vehicle & Trailer Repair Experience – required
• Off‑Highway equipment experience such as front‑end loaders, skid steers, mini excavators, forklifts
• Experience performing annual federal DOT inspections
• Class A CDL preferred but not mandatory

• Repeated physical effort including driving for several hours per day or at a time, standing and walking for extended periods, loading and unloading equipment into and out of company vehicles, walking on varying ground surfaces, and frequently lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
• Work from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds
• Operate hand/power tools, manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smart phones, physical agility to use arms, legs and hands repetitively
• Work outdoors, safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions which include high‑speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes and construction substances
• Comfortable around vehicles moving through work zones and maintaining constant awareness of the surroundings on construction sites, including placement of machinery and equipment, other employees and construction activities
