The Plumbing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all plumbing installation activities on multifamily construction projects, including low-rise, mid-rise, and high-rise apartment communities. This position provides field leadership to plumbing crews, ensures quality workmanship, maintains project schedules, enforces safety standards, and coordinates with project management, general contractors, inspectors, and other trades to successfully deliver projects on time and within budget.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with extensive multifamily plumbing experience, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to effectively manage labor, materials, productivity, and client relationships across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities Field Operations
  • Supervise and coordinate plumbing installation activities on multifamily new construction projects.
  • Lead field crews through all phases of construction including underground, rough‑in, top‑out, trim, and final completion.
  • Review plans, specifications, and project schedules to ensure proper execution of work.
  • Identify and resolve installation challenges before they impact production or schedule.
  • Ensure work is installed according to applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, company standards, and contract requirements.
  • Conduct regular jobsite walks to verify quality, safety, and productivity expectations are being met.
  • Coordinate inspections and ensure projects are prepared for successful approval.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Manage and develop plumbing foremen, lead mechanics, mechanics, apprentices, and helpers.
  • Conduct regular crew meetings to communicate project goals, safety expectations, and production objectives.
  • Train and mentor field personnel on installation methods, quality standards, and company procedures.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide coaching for continuous improvement.
  • Assist with workforce planning and manpower allocation across multiple projects.
Scheduling & Production
  • Work closely with Project Managers to develop and maintain project schedules.
  • Monitor labor productivity and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, equipment needs, and manpower requirements.
  • Ensure projects maintain staffing levels necessary to meet milestone dates.
  • Provide accurate production updates and progress reports.
Quality Control
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship throughout all phases of construction.
  • Conduct routine quality inspections and address deficiencies immediately.
  • Verify installation layouts, pipe sizing, equipment placement, and fixture locations.
  • Ensure punch list items are completed promptly and thoroughly.
  • Support successful project turnover and owner acceptance.
Safety
  • Promote and enforce all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Conduct and document regular safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Perform jobsite safety inspections and correct unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a culture where safety is a top priority.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, developers, inspectors, and trade partners.
  • Participate in jobsite coordination meetings.
  • Collaborate with HVAC, electrical, framing, and fire protection trades to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Represent the company professionally on all jobsites.
Qualifications Required Experience
  • 7+ years of plumbing experience in multifamily new construction.
  • 3+ years of supervisory or foreman experience managing field crews.
  • Proven experience with:
    • Low‑rise multifamily construction
    • Mid‑rise multifamily construction
    • High‑rise multifamily construction
    • Wood‑frame and podium‑style construction
    • Strong understanding of all phases of multifamily plumbing construction.
Technical Knowledge
  • Thorough knowledge of plumbing systems including:
    • DWV systems
    • Domestic water systems
    • Storm drainage systems
    • Natural gas systems
    • Recirculation systems
    • Booster pump systems
    • Water heaters and mechanical room installations
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, and project schedules.
  • Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and industry standards.
