Position Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Welder to join our team. The role involves performing high‑quality welding and fabrication work on a variety of metal components used in HVAC, piping and structural systems. It requires technical skill, attention to detail and strict adherence to safety and quality standards in both shop and field environments.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding on various metals and materials.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications and welding symbols.
  • Measure, cut and prepare materials for welding and assembly.
  • Inspect completed welds for accuracy, strength and compliance with specifications.
  • Set up and maintain welding equipment, tools and consumables.
  • Work collaboratively with fabrication and installation teams to meet project goals.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and equipment checks.
  • Identify and report defective materials or unsafe conditions.
  • Assist in training and mentoring welding apprentices or helpers as needed.
Accountabilities
  • Continual learning and development through First Call Academy to ensure we set the bar for skill level in the industry.
  • Deliver elite level of customer service to ensure we continue to be the First Call of choice for customers’ HVAC and mechanical needs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification preferred.
  • 3–5 years of welding experience in commercial or industrial environments.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and performing precision welds.
  • Ability to use cutting, grinding and measuring tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Certified welder (AWS or equivalent) preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos; write correspondence; effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, use whole numbers, fractions and decimals; compute rates, ratios, percentages and interpret graphs.

Physical Demands

The employee frequently stands, walks, sits, climbs or balances and stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Regular lifting of up to 75 pounds is required. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, depth vision and focus adjustment.
