Position: Pipefitter / Pipe Welder (PER DIEM)

Pipefitter / Pipe Welder ($125 Per Diem)

We are hiring pipe fitters and pipe welders for a long term project. You will be working in Cape Canaveral, FL. Must have previous industrial or shipyard experience. Pay is $35 on days and $37 on nights. You will be working 60 to 80 hours a week. Per diem is $125 a day. If interested apply now and we will call you this same week.

This role focuses on fabricating and maintaining structural, hydraulic, and fluid piping systems for launch hardware, including Schedule 10 pipe on launch mounts and towers. You will perform multiple welding processes at times in demanding, high-altitude conditions while working from engineering drawings and strict specifications. The position requires strong technical welding expertise, precise fabrication skills, and the ability to collaborate with lead welders to ensure high-quality, code-compliant welds on critical hardware.

Responsibilities include:

  • Fabricate and maintain structural, hydraulic, and fluid systems using Schedule 10 stainless steel and carbon steel pipe on launch mounts and towers.
  • Perform Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum structural shapes and tubing.
  • Cut, trim, fit, and fabricate weldments to precise dimensions using standard trade tools and flame-cutting equipment.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations and determine appropriate weld procedures and filler materials.
  • Work closely with lead welders to assess proper weld procedures, rod sizes, and techniques for various materials and joint configurations.
  • Prepare joints and set up welds in accordance with applicable codes and standards such as AWS and ASME Section IX.
  • Execute weld tests including 5G 2" stainless steel Schedule 10 GTAW root-only welds with 2–4 tacks and 6G 2.75" monster coupon GTAW welds, adhering to specified gap, reinforcement, and undercut tolerances.
  • Inspect completed welds for quality, ensuring compliance with dimensional tolerances, reinforcement limits, and undercut requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work area, especially when working at heights or on complex launch structures, following all safety procedures and best practices.
  • Use trade tools, welding equipment, and fabrication machinery responsibly, performing basic maintenance and reporting issues as needed.

Essential skills include:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in GTAW (TIG) welding with Schedule 10 stainless steel pipe and/or Schedule 10 carbon steel pipe.
  • Proficiency in Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/arc welding), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG).
  • Demonstrated pipe welding experience, including work on complex test coupons such as 5G and 6G monster coupons.
  • Previous welding qualifications in accordance with one or more governing codes, such as AWS D1.1, AWS D1.2, AWS D1.6, or ASME Section IX.
  • Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills for welding and fabrication projects.
  • Ability to cut, trim, fit, and fabricate weldments accurately using standard trade tools and flame-cutting equipment.
  • Experience fitting and welding stainless steel and carbon steel piping and structural components.
  • Capability to meet specific weld test criteria, including maximum 1/4" gap, 5/32" reinforcement, and 1/32" undercut.
  • At least 1+ year of manufacturing experience utilizing FCAW or GTAW on Schedule 10 piping (or 5+ years for higher-level roles).

Additional skills and qualifications include:

  • Experience working on launch hardware, spacecraft components, or similarly complex, high-precision structures.
  • Experience in fabrication and welding within industrial, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with welding and fabrication of stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum structural shapes and tubing.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality, code-compliant welds.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with lead welders, engineers, and other fabrication team members.
  • Comfort working at heights or in elevated positions…
