As a Repair Technician Apprentice, you'll receive paid, hands‑on training alongside experienced aerospace technicians while also attending classes at a local college as part of the Collins Aerospace Aircraft Mechanic Apprenticeship Program.

You'll earn while you learn, developing the technical knowledge and practical experience needed to become a skilled aircraft repair technician supporting products that keep aircraft flying safely around the world.

What You Will Do
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and apply Safety, Quality, and Compliance procedures.
  • Select and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Recognize and describe common workplace hazards including electrical, fire, and machine guarding and identify appropriate control measures.
  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other technical specifications.
  • Identify and use current revisions of technical documentation.
  • Determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • Conduct incoming visual inspection of unit upon receipt.
  • Perform leak checks per required technical documentation.
  • Complete static electrical checks per required technical documentation.
  • Perform incoming inspection and checks including visual inspection and static electrical checks per required technical documentation.
  • Conduct disassembly of the unit including all required subassemblies per required technical documentation.
  • Execute cleaning of the unit and all required subassemblies per required technical documentation.
  • Inspect the unit and all required subassemblies to determine primary and secondary failure modes (if any) and required component replacements per required technical documentation.
  • Complete assembly of the unit including all required subassemblies per required technical documentation.
  • Conduct incoming inspection and checks including visual inspection, static electrical, and Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP) checks per required technical documentation.
  • Perform disassembly of the unit including all required subassemblies per required technical documentation.
  • Execute cleaning of the unit and all required subassemblies per required technical documentation.
  • Inspect the unit and all required subassemblies to determine primary and secondary failure modes (if any) and required component replacements per required technical documentation.
  • Perform assembly of the unit including all required subassemblies per required technical documentation.
  • Conduct functional testing of the unit includes leak checks, bonding, static electrical checks, and ATP.
  • Complete final preparation of the unit including documentation review, visual inspection and touch‑up paint.
  • Perform disassembly of the unit including all required subassemblies per required technical documentation.
  • Execute cleaning of the unit and all required subassemblies per required technical documentation.
