Finish Carpenter Foreman Build Quality Residential Projects While Leading From the Field

MUECKE is seeking an experienced Finish Carpenter Foreman to join our residential construction team. This is a hands‑on leadership role for a skilled carpenter who can perform high-quality work, direct a crew, coordinate with other trades, and help keep projects organized and moving forward.

The ideal candidate may currently be working as a lead carpenter, working foreman, or residential project lead. Experience managing projects or operating a small construction business is valuable, but this position requires someone who is willing to remain on the tools while taking responsibility for field execution.

This role offers an opportunity to demonstrate both carpentry and project‑leadership ability, with the potential to take on greater project‑management responsibility over time.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform hands‑on residential framing and finish carpentry
  • Lead and coordinate the daily work of carpenters or small crews
  • Lay out walls, ceilings, windows, and door openings
  • Frame walls and ceilings according to construction plans
  • Plan framing around lighting fixtures, switches, receptacles, plumbing, HVAC components, and other recessed items
  • Install doors, windows, crown molding, casing, baseboard, and related finish materials
  • Scribe baseboard and trim to floors or uneven surfaces when needed
  • Read and interpret plans, drawings, and project specifications
  • Coordinate with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other trades to support project progress
  • Identify field conflicts and help resolve construction challenges before they create delays
  • Manage time, materials, crew priorities, and daily job‑site needs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area
  • Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and to MUECKE's quality standards
Qualifications
  • Strong residential carpentry experience
  • Experience with both framing and finish carpentry
  • Demonstrated ability to install doors, windows, crown molding, casing, and baseboard
  • Ability to complete layout work for walls, ceilings, windows, and door openings
  • Ability to read plans and frame accurately according to specifications
  • Experience leading a crew, directing carpenters, or taking responsibility for a job site
  • Strong time‑management, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with subcontractors and other trades
  • Willingness to perform hands‑on carpentry while leading field operations
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized job site
  • Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
  • Physical ability to perform construction‑related work throughout the workday
Tool Knowledge

Candidates should be comfortable using standard carpentry hand and power tools, including:

  • Chop saws
  • Table saws
  • Routers
  • Biscuit joiners
  • Planers
  • Belt sanders
  • Nail guns
  • Other common framing and finish‑carpentry tools

Having your own professional carpentry tools is helpful but not required.

Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience as a lead carpenter, working foreman, or residential project lead
  • Crew‑management and field‑leadership experience
  • Residential renovation or remodeling experience
  • Experience coordinating project phases, materials, schedules, or subcontractors
  • Background operating a small carpentry, remodeling, or construction business
  • Ability to scribe baseboard and trim accurately
  • Interest in growing into greater project‑management responsibility
Compensation

Pay range: $20-$35 per hour
, based on demonstrated carpentry experience, leadership ability, technical skill, and level of project responsibility.

What We Offer
  • Hands‑on leadership responsibility
  • Opportunity to work on detailed residential construction projects
  • Stable work with a quality‑focused construction company
  • A professional team environment
  • Exposure to multiple phases of the residential construction process
  • Growth opportunities for individuals who demonstrate strong leadership, organization, and technical ability
  • Potential advancement into increased project coordination or management responsibility
