Role Description

The Diesel Truck Technician role is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Tampa, FL. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, drive trains, braking systems, electrical systems, and other components on heavy trucks. The technician will perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and DOT‑compliant safety checks, as well as document work performed in service records. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include using diagnostic tools, following manufacturer specifications, collaborating with service advisors and parts personnel, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.

The technician will also communicate clearly with team members, follow all safety procedures, and support high‑quality, timely repairs to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Strong diesel engine and heavy truck repair skills, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and component replacement.
  • Experience with truck electrical systems, braking systems, hydraulics, and general mechanical maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and shop tools commonly used in truck service.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE, manufacturer‑specific) or vocational training in diesel technology are preferred.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, adherence to shop procedures, and accurate maintenance of service records.
  • Reliable work habits, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL and prior experience in a truck dealership or fleet environment are a plus.
