The Suspended Hoist Certified Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and safe operation of motorized suspended access equipment, including Spider® powered suspended access systems, swing stage platforms, suspended platforms, and associated hoist equipment
. This position supports field operations by ensuring hoists, motors, controls, wire rope systems, and suspended access equipment are properly maintained, tested, and ready for safe use.
The technician will work closely with project management, operations, and field crews to troubleshoot equipment issues, perform preventive maintenance, and support the installation and operation of suspended access systems on industrial and commercial projects.
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair suspended hoists and motorized work-access equipment
. - Perform preventive maintenance and service on hoist motors, gearboxes, brakes, controls, electrical components, and related equipment
. - Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues affecting hoist operation and suspended platforms.
- Inspect and service Spider® powered suspended access equipment and swing stage systems
. - Assist with installation, setup, testing, and commissioning of suspended access systems.
- Inspect wire ropes, rigging components, platform assemblies, tiebacks, lifelines, and related suspended-access components.
- Perform operational and safety checks before equipment is placed into service.
- Identify defective, damaged, or unsafe equipment and remove it from service when necessary.
- Complete maintenance, inspection, repair, and equipment documentation accurately.
- Work with project teams to diagnose equipment problems and minimize downtime.
- Maintain tools, test equipment, spare parts, and service inventory.
- Follow manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and applicable safety requirements.
- Support field crews with technical guidance related to hoist operation and suspended access equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and promote a strong safety culture.
- Travel to project locations as required to support equipment maintenance and field operations.
- Certified/qualified suspended hoist technician with demonstrated experience servicing motorized suspended access equipment.
- Experience with Spider® hoists, swing stage platforms, or comparable powered suspended access systems
. - Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Working knowledge of electrical controls and motorized hoist systems.
- Ability to inspect and identify wear, damage, and operational deficiencies in suspended access equipment.
- Ability to read equipment manuals, technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to work at heights and in industrial/construction environments.
- Strong commitment to safety and equipment reliability.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project locations as required.
- Experience with Spider Powered Suspended Access Solutions
. - Experience with suspended scaffolding, swing stages, temporary suspended platforms, or motorized work-access systems.
- Experience troubleshooting AC/DC motors, brakes, gearboxes, limit switches, controls, and electrical systems
. - Experience performing equipment inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Industrial construction, petrochemical, commercial construction, or specialty access experience.
- Previous experience supporting field installation and commissioning of suspended access systems.
- Ability to work at elevated heights and in confined or physically demanding work environments.
- Ability to climb ladders, access elevated platforms, and work from suspended access equipment.
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver tools, equipment, and components as required.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying environmental conditions.
