Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and facility maintenance tasks to keep machines, equipment, and building structures in safe, efficient working order. This role combines skills from multiple maintenance and craft disciplines to diagnose issues, carry out repairs, and complete preventive maintenance activities across the facility.

• Use common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, and precision measuring instruments, as well as electrical and electronic testing devices, to perform maintenance tasks.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the facility does not deteriorate.
• Repair or replace defective equipment parts using appropriate hand and power tools, and reassemble equipment to restore proper operation.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and determine corrective actions by reviewing blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as needed.
• Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain required items from storerooms to support maintenance activities.
• Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
• Perform work that may involve pipe fitting, insulating, welding, machining, carpentry, and repairing electrical or mechanical equipment.
• Install, align, and balance new equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Repair building structures, including floors and stairs, to maintain a safe and functional environment.
• Serve as a backup to other maintenance functions as needed, supporting a wide range of facility and equipment maintenance tasks.
• Operate heavy machinery while consistently using required personal protective equipment (PPE), specifically steel toe safety boots.

• Proficiency in maintenance technician work involving two or more maintenance or craft occupations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in repairing and maintaining machines and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues effectively.
• Hands-on experience with pneumatics and hydraulics systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
• Demonstrated experience performing preventive maintenance on machinery and building systems.
• Competence in basic electrical work, including wiring and working with electrical and electronic components.
• Skill in using common hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and electrical and electronic testing devices.
• Capability to assemble, install, align, and balance new equipment.
• Experience with basic plumbing and pipe systems maintenance and repair.

• Experience in pipe fitting and insulating in an industrial or facility environment.
• Experience in welding, machining, and carpentry for equipment and building repairs.
• Ability to repair buildings, floors, and stairs to maintain facility integrity.
• Comfort working with heavy machinery while adhering to PPE requirements, including steel toe safety boots.
• Strong organizational skills to manage parts, supplies, and equipment ordering and inventory.
• Ability to work flexibly and serve as a backup to other maintenance functions as needed.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety in all maintenance activities.
• Effective communication skills to document work performed and collaborate with team members.
