Youth & Family Support Specialist — On-Call & Transport

Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services, and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma‑informed and evidence‑based/evidence‑informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0‑18) and their families, both virtually and in person.

• Provide transportation of youth to and from out‑of‑home care placements, school, and visits, and supervise parent visits.
• Manage crisis situations, de‑escalate youth and adults, and drive as required.
• Spend a large amount of time face to face with high‑need teenagers transporting them.
• Work an on‑call schedule for nights and weekends; hours vary based on shift and client demand.

• Starting pay rate: $18 hourly

• High School diploma/GED required; A.A. preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience (human services or childcare experience preferred).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must have reliable vehicle/transportation and a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving history and a clean driving record.
• Must meet any credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as it pertains to the department.
• All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test, and an extensive background check is required.
