Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Job Title:Family Support Worker Responsibilities
- Provide transportation of youth to and from out‑of‑home care placements, school, and visits, and supervise parent visits.
- Manage crisis situations, de‑escalate youth and adults, and drive as required.
- Spend a large amount of time face to face with high‑need teenagers transporting them.
- Work an on‑call schedule for nights and weekends; hours vary based on shift and client demand.
- Starting pay rate: $18 hourly

- High School diploma/GED required; A.A. preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience (human services or childcare experience preferred).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must have reliable vehicle/transportation and a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving history and a clean driving record.
- Must meet any credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as it pertains to the department.
- All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test, and an extensive background check is required.
