Duties and Responsibilities

As a representative of the Bureau of Administrative Reviews (BAR), this position is responsible for: training new staff members; updating and maintaining the BAR Operations Manual and training materials; managing the BAR training grant, including planning and facilitating training events; coordinating special projects; and conducting driver license administrative reviews and hearings, reviewing investigations, rendering decisions and taking final agency action for persons applying for reinstatement of driving privileges.

Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow, and other activities relating to improvement of operational and management practices. Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials. Ability to communicate effectively, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Knowledge of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle rules, regulations, and policies.

Skill in providing customer service. Ability to interpret Florida Statutes, Administrative rules, and Department policies. Skill in using Audio/Visual aids. Skill in reading and interpreting driver records. Skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Skill in coordinating, planning, and scheduling office projects and work activities. Skill in researching data and compiling reports. Ability to process and approve vendor invoices and use the assigned Department Purchasing Card following all regulations.

Ability to work flexible schedules. Ability to assist the Bureau Chief as needed. Skill in training and mentoring staff.

Preferred Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and at least one (1) year working as a Field Hearing Officer or Driver License Examiner At least three (3) years working as a Field Hearing Officer or Driver License Examiner

Job Related Requirements

This position also requires the incumbent to travel overnight throughout the state and operate a state vehicle. This position requires the incumbent to have and maintain a valid driver's license in good standing. This means there can be no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations for a minimum of three years prior to employment and for the duration of employment. There can be no more than three chargeable crashes or any violation of Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, during any consecutive three-year period prior to and throughout employment.

The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes. Please note that, since this position requires CJIS clearance, the Department will have access to all an applicant's criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged.
