AI Voice Engineer (Low‑Latency Conversational AI)
We are a large B2C eCommerce brand in the health and wellness space, building a high‑volume outbound AI sales team handling 100,000+ voice calls per month. This fully remote role calls for an experienced AI Voice Engineer to bring conversational AI agents to life. The candidate will tackle low‑latency challenges, drive conversion rates, and integrate complex systems at scale.
What You'll Do- Voice Model Integration:
Work with commercial voice platforms like Eleven Labs and integrate with LLMs like ChatGPT/GPT‑5 and open‑source models to optimize conversation quality and cost. - Custom LLM Development:
Design, build, and fine‑tune custom LLMs trained on high‑volume phone call recordings for natural, context‑aware, sales conversations. - Low‑Latency Voice Optimization:
Architect solutions to achieve ultra‑low latency in AI voice responses, ensuring human‑like flow and minimal delay over the phone network. - System Integration:
Seamlessly integrate the conversational AI system with core business infrastructure, including CRM platforms (e.g., Hub Spot, Klaviyo) and payment systems. - Prompt Engineering Mastery:
Develop advanced, context‑aware prompts to maximize effectiveness, maintain brand voice, and steer conversations toward desired sales outcomes. - Guardrail Creation & Maintenance:
Implement robust guardrails based on detailed sales scripts, legal requirements, and conversation factors to ensure safe, ethical, on‑brand interactions at massive scale. - A/B Testing & Conversion Optimization:
Design and execute split‑testing protocols within the AI environment to improve conversation flows, prompt effectiveness, and drive higher AI conversion rates. - Scalable Code Development:
Write clean, efficient, scalable code primarily in Python (or Rust, Go) to manage the high‑volume call infrastructure. - Workflow Orchestration (n8n):
Build and maintain n8n workflows to orchestrate outbound call triggers, lead routing, real‑time webhooks, CRM updates, follow‑ups (SMS/email), error retries, and human handoff; version and monitor workflows in production.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3 years focused on conversational AI, LLMs, or VUI development.
- Proven ability to optimize voice applications for low‑latency performance and real‑time processing.
- Expert‑level proficiency in Python; experience with AWS, GCP, Azure AI/ML services is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of data pipelines and training custom LLMs/fine‑tuning models on proprietary datasets (e.g., call recordings).
- Demonstrable experience integrating AI models with external business APIs, specifically CRM and payment processors.
- Deep expertise in prompt engineering and conversational design principles geared toward direct response or sales outcomes.
- Experience setting up and analyzing A/B testing metrics for AI‑driven conversion improvements.
- Familiarity with telephony APIs (e.g., Twilio, Vonage) and voice synthesis/cloning technologies.
