Hillsborough Transit Authority (HART) is seeking a creative, highly motivated individual to serve as Superintendent of Vehicle Technology . This position will provide technical and professional assistance overseeing, maintaining, and acquiring, on-board vehicle information technology systems and components in the Fleet Maintenance Division. This position is responsible for onboard vehicle technology equipment including but is not limited to fare collection systems, surveillance systems, automatic passenger counting systems, electronic destination signs, CAD/AVL/Next Stop Passenger Announcement systems, onboard audio/visual content systems, passenger Wi-Fi systems, in addition to all other forms of technology equipment commonly found/used on public transit buses.
The Superintendent of Vehicle Technologies supervises the maintenance and repair operation of HART’s on-board transit bus technology equipment to ensure fleet remains in a state of operating excellence and vehicles present no problems or interruptions to the riding public. Other duties include representing the Maintenance Department, observing and analyzing work practices, encouraging positive changes, resolving bus maintenance problems and vehicle operations issues, and coordinating with staff and other departments.
Education and Experience:
- Two (2) year associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from an accredited college, technical business, or vocational school, in the related field as sought by this job description.
- Additional directly related experience beyond the minimum requirement may substitute for the required education based on the ratio of one and a half (1.5) years of experience for each (1) year of education.
- A minimum of five (5) years of vehicle maintenance experience in a management capacity, preferably in a medium-to-large transit vehicle maintenance shop.
- Must possess the ability to supervise and evaluate employees and delegate work assignments.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and the listed software applications associated with performance of assigned work is essential. Basic problem‑solving skills associated with software applications used is expected. Software usage relevant to job duties will be evaluated.
- Advanced skills utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software, and specialized software related to functional areas to include but not limited to: MS Windows, MS Internet Explorer, MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook), Maintenance Management Software.
