General Manager

Overview

Job Summary: Ameriship Parcel Delivery is a medical overnight and courier delivery service operating in multiple states. We are recruiting for a General Manager to work at our Tampa, FL office. The ideal candidate will be a hard-working professional able to undertake logistics, manage the office, and work diligently under pressure.

• Manages daily dispatch and interface of assigned drivers.
• Recruiting, interviewing, training, and coaching new drivers and staff.
• Overseeing routing, sorting, operations loading and unloading of freight, customer service, and facilities management.
• Delivering and picking up packages daily.
• Create and updates driver notes in Ameriship’s system to ensure accuracy and validity of information related to deliveries, re-attempts, and missed deliveries.
• Drive consistent operational performance with a focus on service and cost.
• Monitor mis deliveries and develop avoidance strategies for your office.
• Manage general office duties including mailing, supplies, and errands.
• Forecast workload for 2 – 3 days out.
• Lead and manage hourly personnel and contractors.
• Manage resources to cover staff absence and workload capabilities.
• Manage disciplinary issues in line with company policies.
• Schedule and direct work activity for drivers to maximize profitability using the best cost option.
• Maintain a high level of data accuracy and consistency in the system.
• Create and assign work schedules; maintain proper staffing to support operations based on freight volumes.
• Interact with Logistics team and vendors; knowledge of shipping and receiving.
• Monitor and improve operational performance with attention to service and cost.

• 1-3 years of experience in material flow, warehouse/logistics, transportation management, or materials handling.
• Ability to interact with Logistics team and vendors.
• Self-motivated and resourceful; able to prioritize and multi-task.
• Effective problem-solving skills; self-directed and able to meet deadlines.
• Comfortable with technology and computers; knowledge of Excel/PowerPoint/Word.
