Position Overview
Love working outside? Love the water? Love boating? As part of the talented Freedom Boat Club Marine Operations Center team, the Marine Lube Technician will travel to dock locations throughout the Tampa territory to perform oil changes and preventive maintenance on our fleet of vessels. This position is full‑time and requires availability on weekdays.
Essential Functions- Perform routine engine oil changes on recreational vessels, including draining and refilling oil to manufacturer specifications and cleaning or replacing oil filters.
- Inspect vessels using work orders and service specifications to proactively identify maintenance needs before issues arise.
- Execute and fully complete scheduled preventive maintenance services, clearly documenting work performed and flagging any additional maintenance or repair needs to management.
- Accurately complete service logs, maintenance reports, and part records using Fleetio and reservation management systems.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas by properly removing oil, grease, and debris from vessels, tools, and equipment.
- Manage onboard and service vehicle inventories, ensuring required parts, fluids, and supplies are stocked and properly stored.
- Follow all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper handling and disposal of fluids and materials.
- Support overall fleet readiness by assisting with additional maintenance tasks or shop duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Passing a pre‑employment background and drug screening.
- Thorough understanding of marine engines and tools being used.
- Demonstrated experience with servicing marine engines.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment.
- Ability to read and manipulate handheld tablets.
- Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity.
- Positive, cooperative attitude with the capability of working unsupervised.
- Experience driving vehicles with boat trailers and launching and retrieving vessels in and out of the water.
- Experience driving, maneuvering, and docking vessels.
- Boating safety .
- Vessel livery operator’s certification.
- Prolonged periods driving to dock locations.
- Prolonged periods standing, crouching, bending, climbing, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, and pulling in order to perform job.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
CompensationThe anticipated hiring range for this position is $16 to $18 per hour. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job‑related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. A $1,000 sign‑on bonus will be paid in two installments: 50% will be included in your first issued paycheck following your date of hire, and the remaining 50% will be paid on the first paycheck issued after 60 days of successful employment.
