Dock Worker
The Dock Worker plays a key role in ensuring accurate, efficient, and safe cargo movement at an active port environment. This position focuses on scanning and verifying barcodes for inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining precise documentation for clients, and coordinating closely with dock teams to keep cargo flowing smoothly under tight turnaround times.
Responsibilities- Scan and verify barcodes on all inbound and outbound cargo using a handheld tablet.
- Accurately log cargo data to create official receipt documentation for clients.
- Monitor product movement as it is offloaded from or loaded onto cargo ships.
- Communicate in real time with dock loaders, crane operators, and yard drivers to coordinate cargo flow.
- Ensure proper cargo flow while maintaining strong safety awareness in active loading zones.
- Identify and promptly report discrepancies, damaged goods, or missing shipments.
- Maintain organization and accuracy during tight turnaround times on vessel days.
- Use tablets, scanners, and basic technology systems to support shipping and receiving activities.
- Work with minimal supervision while meeting high-volume operational demands.
- Consistently follow safety protocols and remain alert in areas with heavy equipment in operation.
- Experience working outdoors in heat, humidity, or physically demanding environments.
- Strong attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy in data entry and client reporting.
- Comfort using handheld tablets, scanners, and basic technology systems.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams, including dock loaders, crane operators, and yard drivers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with minimal supervision.
- Reliable and punctual, particularly in alignment with vessel schedules.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while remaining safety-focused.
Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience in logistics, warehouse, port, shipping, or dock operations preferred.
- Experience in inventory management, shipping and receiving, or data entry is beneficial.
- Comfort working in environments with heavy equipment and active loading zones.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records under time pressure.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities during peak shipping periods.

WorkEnvironment
This is a fully outdoor position in Florida, requiring comfort working in heat, sun, humidity, and varying weather conditions. The role involves constant movement on active docks where heavy equipment is in operation, and it requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods. The environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, and employees must remain alert, safety-focused, and aware of their surroundings at all times.
JobType & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
