Job Summary
The Group Manager Logistics I manages the overall financial, operational and employee aspects of multiple accounts, ensuring profitable retention and growth within the span of control while meeting financial, employee, safety and customer satisfaction goals.
Essential Functions- Goal setting, skills assessment, IDPs and career development
- Performance evaluation and ongoing employee feedback
- Disciplinary actions and warning documentation (performance/disciplinary reviews)
- Performance Improvement Plans for CLS
- Identify situations that need to be elevated to director
- Develop direct and indirect reports and provide HR skills training information
- Conduct quality and effective selection of qualified personnel
- Maintain corrective staffing levels to avoid unnecessary use of outside labor
- Create location processes and maintain SCLM
- Cross‑train CLS and CLC
- Resolve customer satisfaction/problem issues
- Review KPI tracking and improvement
- Ensure all staff trained in Transportation/Distribution Management
- Improve employee retention
- Reduce number of accidents compared to previous year
- Review and reduce unnecessary overtime
- Follow up on Collision/Team Safety Reporting with LM
- Follow up on Supervisor First Report of Injury with LM
- Recommend location process initiation/improvement and assign responsibility to CLC/CLS
- Conduct ongoing self‑audits of location processes and individual accountabilities
- SOX invoice reconciliation to FFM designee (if highest level at account)
- SOX revenue recognition preparation to FFM designee (if highest level at account)
- Invoice to customer
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Demonstrated project management and facilitation skills
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Ability to create and maintain professional relationships at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Flexibility to operate and self‑driven to excel in a fast‑paced environment
- Capable of multi‑tasking, highly organized, with excellent time‑management skills
- Detail‑oriented with excellent follow‑up practices
- Bachelor's Degree in business, logistics, supply chain or two (2) years of relevant work experience (Required)
- Master's Degree in a related field (Required)
- Five years or more in managing, leading, and developing direct reports (Required)
- Three years or more in developing and implementing complete logistics solutions and project management skills (Required)
- Three years or more in leading teams in a LEAN work environment (Required)
- Zero to one year in some sales experience (Required)
- RD2000 computer system – Advanced (Required)
- Basic PC skills (Microsoft Office) – Intermediate (Required)
- Experience with truck brokerage (Preferred)
- Knowledge of RD/Logistics/Transportation industry (Preferred)
- Experience with Ryder Safety Programs (Preferred)
- Financial reporting and accounting procedures (Walker) – Intermediate (Preferred)
- Ryder products & services – Advanced (Preferred)
- Ryder sales process – Advanced (Preferred)
- Ryder pricing models – Advanced (Preferred)
- Travel – No Job Category Logistics (Preferred)
Pay Type:
Salaried Minimum Pay Range: $110,000
Maximum Pay Range: $120,000
