Job DescriptionPosition: Power School School-Based Data Manager
Terms of Employment: 12 months/8 hours per day, or as determined by funding/program needs.
Reports To: Building Principal and Director of Accountability Services
Job Goal: Performs specialized technical and administrative work in the support, operation and coordination of the computerized student information management system for Edgecombe County Public Schools.
Qualifications- Minimum high school diploma, supplemented by specialized coursework in technology.
- 1 to 2 years of experience using Power School (preferred).
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Considerable knowledge of the student information management system used by the school system, including operating procedures, related components, capabilities and limitations.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, AS400) and other student information software packages.
- Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Assist school‑based personnel in implementing standards and operating procedures for managing student data.
- Collect and consolidate data from staff and create summary databases/reports as needed.
- Use common software packages (word processing, spreadsheets) to produce additional reports, department‑specific assignments and program management area(s).
- Provide assistance in all areas of student information, including developing attendance reporting formats, grade reporting, registration and scheduling, discipline reporting, etc.
- Work directly with teachers to use the electronic gradebook system.
- Train and communicate Power School procedures to designated school backup personnel on a regular basis.
- Relay new information on Power School policies and procedures to appropriate school personnel.
- Complete required program reports in accordance with local, state and federal guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Thorough knowledge of SDPI, Licensure/Salary Administration practice, procedures, and methods.
- Thorough knowledge of office practice, procedures, and methods.
- Knowledge of office machines required for this position.
- Knowledge of a wide range of laws, rules, regulations and guidelines required to operate a public school system.
- Ability to produce work at a very high level of accuracy and speed.
- Ability to plan and organize work, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to manage a large variety of work tasks and make sound judgments.
- High level of writing skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with parents, students, coworkers, administrators, the business and political community, and the general public.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and records.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Computer SkillsKnowledge of information technology devices, audiovisual equipment, basic computer operation and software. Ability to learn various computer operations required for student information management and integration of technology in classroom instruction.
OtherAbility to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication.
Physical DemandsRegularly required to sit and talk or hear; frequently required to walk and use fingers, tools or controls; occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. Specific visual abilities: close vision, color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus. Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs such as files, paper, school supplies, books, etc.
Work EnvironmentNoise level usually moderate to loud. Employee continuously interacts with the public and staff.
