Kindergarten Teacher
The Kindergarten Teacher plans and delivers developmentally appropriate instruction that promotes the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of young learners. The teacher creates a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that fosters curiosity, independence, and a love of learning while preparing students for future academic success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate, standards-aligned instruction that addresses foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning.
- Design and implement engaging, hands-on, and play-based learning experiences that support the developmental needs of young children.
- Teach foundational reading, writing, language, mathematics, and early learning concepts using evidence-based instructional practices.
- Foster students' social and emotional development by teaching self-regulation, cooperation, empathy, problem-solving, and positive peer interactions.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, linguistic, and developmental needs of all learners.
- Assess and monitor student growth through observations, formative assessments, developmental checklists, district assessments, and other appropriate measures.
- Use assessment data to guide instructional decisions, provide targeted interventions, and communicate student progress.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement, attendance, and required documentation.
- Establish and maintain a structured, organized, safe, and nurturing classroom environment that supports positive student behavior and active engagement.
- Supervise students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, recess, and other school activities to ensure student safety and well-being.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, classroom activities, and strategies to support learning at home.
- Collaborate with administrators, special education staff, interventionists, instructional coaches, related service providers, and colleagues to support student success and improve instructional practices.
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), professional development, faculty meetings, and school improvement initiatives.
- Implement district curriculum, instructional frameworks, and assessment expectations with fidelity.
- Establish positive relationships with students, families, and staff while promoting a welcoming and inclusive classroom culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee in support of the school's educational mission.
