Position Summary
The Rehab Community Services Coordinator is responsible for organizing and overseeing the day to day operations and program development of the supervised exercise program and works collaboratively with the community aquatics program. He/she is responsible for ensuring the continuous supervision and routine provision of services for the participants in these programs. He/she will assist with tasks related to the recertification of patients for services, performing clerical duties, transporting patients, coordinating infection control of all equipment, maintaining, ordering and inventory of patient supplies equipment and coordinating volunteers for the rehab departments.
He/she will be responsible for ensuring the same quality of care for all program participants, regardless of status, which includes race, religion, cultural needs and/or financial needs. He/she will be responsible for non patient care activities directed at hospital quality improvement, professional growth, and service aimed at meeting the hospitals mission statement. The employee will also be responsible for meeting skills competency requirements.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Knowledge of growth and development and how hospitalization impacts the patients, ability to document observations in behavioral terms and a strong knowledge of group dynamics.
- Ability to translate theory and philosophy into usable format, and be able to establish rapport with patients, family, physicians, students, volunteers, peers staff and the general public.
- One year experience working as an exercise specialist is preferred.
- Must be able to pass water safety competencies and serve as a second person or instructor in the aquatics program.
- Ability to communicate effectively and interact pleasantly with participants and coworkers of varied backgrounds.
- Have a Current CPR certification.
- Deemed competent in safe operation and use of all gym and pool equipment.
- Certified by the Arthritis Foundation of North Carolina to teach pool classes, preferred.
- Deemed competent in emergency pool safety.
- Ability to accurately take and explain blood pressure and pulse oz readings to community participants in the Supervised exercise programs.
- Knowledgeable of spreadsheets and have organizational skills to generate reports as requested.
- Oversee all operations of the Supervise exercise program including scheduling participants, collecting fees for the classes and preparing financial reports to the Manager, Rehab therapy services.
- Completes charge reconciliation and other reports for OT, PT and ST services as instructed.
- Completes tallies of staff productivity.
- Demonstrates ability to teach group exercise classes and one on one instruction in exercise as well.
- Orders supply equipment for OT, PT, ST, EMG clinic as requested.
- Possess a valid driver's license, and appropriate drivers record to operate our Rehab Van to transport patients and staff on home visits or community outings as needed.
- Degree in Sports Management Recreation and Leisure Studies, exercise physiologist or athletic trainer certified or eligible or other related field and/or experience in Aquatic Programming required- or higher.
- 1 year of aquatic programming experience may be substituted for 1 year of formal education, up to 2 years.
