Sr. Associate Scientist

We are seeking a Sr. Associate Scientist to join our Obesity, Metabolism and Muscle Diseases Group, serving as a central histological resource providing expert tissue processing and staining services across multiple research programs simultaneously. In this role, you will manage end-to-end histological workflows spanning a broad range of tissue types, maintaining rigorous quality standards while navigating competing program demands to deliver high-quality data on time.

Discover your role:
- Process tissue samples from multiple tissue types (e.g., liver, heart, brain, muscle, adipose), including fixation, dehydration, clearing, embedding, and sectioning
- Perform routine and special histological staining according to program needs
- Conduct IHC and IF, developing, optimizing, and validating new protocols, antibody titrations, and antigen retrieval conditions
- Apply in situ hybridization (ISH/RNAscope) techniques for gene expression localization where required
- Perform image acquisition using various scanning platforms and manage image data repositories
- Perform quantitative image analysis, developing and applying customized algorithms as needed
- Generate high-quality figures and data summaries for internal reports, regulatory packages, and peer-reviewed publications
- Maintain and communicate a dynamic workload tracker, proactively flagging capacity constraints or scheduling conflicts to stakeholders
This role requires:
- BS with 5+ years or MS with 2+ years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in standard and special histochemical staining techniques across multiple tissue types
- Demonstrated IHC/IF assay development, optimization, and troubleshooting experience
- Proficiency with whole-slide imaging systems and digital pathology image analysis software (e.g., HALO)
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize simultaneous requests from multiple stakeholders
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Preferred: experience with in situ hybridization platforms (RNAscope, Base Scope, FISH)
