This role offers the opportunity to become a key driver of excellence within maternity services, helping to ensure every family receives safe, personalised and evidence-based care. You will work with a high degree of autonomy, partnering with senior leaders and frontline teams to develop, implement and evaluate programmes that strengthen both clinical practice and workforce capability. Your ability to motivate others, foster engagement and support positive change will be central to your success.
A significant part of the role involves developing and empowering colleagues. You will support learning and development initiatives, facilitate multidisciplinary education, provide coaching and mentorship, and help create an environment where staff feel confident, supported and able to grow professionally. You will also play an important role in quality improvement and governance, translating learning, evidence and national policy into practical improvements that enhance safety, outcomes and patient experience.
By analysing data, identifying trends and supporting improvement projects, you will help ensure maternity services continue to evolve and deliver the highest standards of care. We're looking for an experienced registered midwife with strong clinical credibility, excellent communication skills and a proven ability to influence practice and lead change. You will be confident working across professional boundaries, building collaborative relationships and supporting teams through service development and transformation.
In return, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact across maternity services, help shape the future workforce, contribute to system-wide improvements and play a leading role in delivering exceptional care for women, babies and families across Somerset
