Year 6 Supply Teacher

Location: Taunton & Surrounding Areas
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: £140-£300 per day, depending on role and pay scale

About the Role

Connex Education is working in partnership with schools across Taunton and the surrounding areas, including schools within the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust (BWMAT), to recruit enthusiastic and dedicated Year 6 Supply Teachers from September 2026.

We are looking for qualified teachers who are confident delivering engaging and purposeful Key Stage 2 learning and supporting pupils as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.

Whether you are looking for flexible day-to-day supply, short-term placements or longer-term opportunities, we can offer a variety of roles to suit your experience and availability.

The Role

We are recruiting Year 6 Supply Teachers for opportunities including:

  • Day-to-day and short-term supply teaching
  • Longer-term Year 6 placements
  • Full class responsibility where required
  • Planning and delivering engaging Key Stage 2 lessons
  • Preparing pupils for end-of-Key Stage assessments and SATs where required
  • Marking, assessment and tracking pupil progress
  • Supporting positive behaviour and classroom routines
  • Working closely with school staff to support pupil progress and wellbeing
  • Supporting pupils with the transition from primary to secondary education

The Taunton area includes a number of primary schools within the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust (BWMAT).

BWMAT is a Church of England multi-academy trust supporting 46 schools across Somerset, North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset.

What We're Looking For
  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6
  • Strong knowledge of the Key Stage 2 curriculum
  • Confidence supporting pupils with SATs preparation where required
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Confidence with planning, marking and assessment
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A flexible, reliable and professional approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
