Job Summary
Seasonal Registered Nurse II – Night Shift at Taunton State Hospital. 90‑day seasonal position, 40 hrs/week, overnight shift on Cain 1 West 11 p.m. – 7 a.m. Full‑time; no benefits except sick time. Mandatory overtime required. Seasonal positions do not offer benefits.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide direct professional nursing care to patients in locked units, utilizing a Patient‑Centered approach.
- Establish therapeutic rapport to facilitate open communication and support patient goals.
- Oversee a safe, secure, therapeutic environment based on acuity and staff assignment.
- Assess all patients daily for physical, medical, psychiatric, spiritual, and cultural needs.
- Participate in recovery‑model education sessions required by DMH.
- One year full‑time (or equivalent part‑time) experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital, clinic or medical facility.
- Current, valid registration as a professional nurse with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
- Bilingual or multilingual fluency (given the population served).
Successful applicants must be vaccinated for COVID‑19 and influenza (or have taken required mitigation measures) as prescribed by Title 101 CMR 23.00 Regulation.

About Taunton State HospitalTaunton State Hospital (TSH) is a 62‑bed inpatient facility operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) that provides continuing care inpatient services to adults with major mental illnesses. TSH embraces the Principles of Recovery and a rehabilitation philosophy in its treatment model and works closely with the Southeast Area to facilitate patients’ discharge back to the community.
