Role & ScopeThe Laborer (Gas) is the entry level position within the Gas Construction and Maintenance group. Employees within the Gas Construction and Maintenance group are responsible for assuring that all gas construction and maintenance work that is completed is performed in accordance with Company, State, and Federal regulations. This includes maintenance and repairs activities, installation of new gas infrastructure, and emergency response.
The Laborer position is part of a Field Training Program based out of the Taunton, MA location. The 12-month long training program will provide employees with the necessary operator qualifications and skills required to become a gas maintenance employee. Upon completion of the program, employees will be assigned to any of the gas area work centers in Eastern, MA. Locations will be assigned by seniority and availability.
Potential locations includes Wrentham, Taunton, Brockton, Plymouth, and New Bedford.
1. High School Education or equivalent
2. One year of gas distribution or heavy equipment experience required.
3. Must pass EEI testing (CAST test) and successful completion of a technical and behavioral interview.
4. Massachusetts License to Operate Motor Vehicles and a driving record that reflects safe driving habits.
5. Must be able to obtain a CDL Driver's License within six months; candidates who currently maintain a CDL Drivers' License Class A preferred.
6. Ability and willingness to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all seasons and at times for extended periods.
6. Must have a work history that demonstrates safe work habits.
7. Must pass and maintain all operator qualification requirements dictated by department.
8. Must meet OSHA requirements.
