Job Overview
The Community Payback Supervisor is an operational role responsible for supervising a group of offenders serving a community sentence. Duties include directing work groups, ensuring tasks are completed, driving service vehicles to transport people or equipment, and demonstrating good practice to participants.
Responsibilities- Supervise a group at a Community Payback unpaid work placement, typically up to 7 hours a day.
- Drive service vehicles to transport work sites and equipment.
- Encourage and motivate participants to complete manual tasks such as clearing overgrowth, restoring community facilities, planting trees, laying flowerbeds, graffiti removal and litter picking.
- Ensure safety, wellbeing and compliance with probation service standards.
- Record and report progress, incidents and outcomes as required.
- Must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence.
- Right to work in the UK (citizenship or appropriate visa status).
- Experience or a willingness to work with offenders and in community settings.
- Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills.
This is a full‑time role (37 hours per week) condensed into four 9.25‑hour days. Weekend and occasional evening work are part of the normal pattern. Employees receive a 50% higher rate for each weekend day worked.
Salary & ProgressionStarting salary of £28,064 per annum, with annual pay progression through a Competency Based Framework.
Benefits- Annual leave: 25 days on appointment, rising to 30 after five years.
