Position

Description:

We are looking for an Office Technician to join our Construction Team in our Flint, Bay City, or Taylor office. Candidates must have at least three years' of related experience, a High School Diploma, MDOT certified Office Technician (active) and prior MDOT document experience or training. A minimum of two years of Field Manager and/or AASHTOWare experience and a valid driver's license is also required.

Strong written and verbal communication skills/coordination skills are critical along with computer proficiency.

Typical responsibilities include:
  • Set-up and maintain complete project files in Field Manager and Project Wise
  • Track material usage in accordance with the contractors' Material Source Lists in Field Manager and Project Wise
  • Review/edit Inspector Daily Reports in Field Manager and Project Wise
  • Interpret project plans, specifications, and Special Provisions
  • Prepare draft Contract Modifications
  • Review contractor payrolls and verify prevailing wage (Davis/Bacon) on MDOT and federally funded projects in LCPTracker
  • Prepare biweekly estimates in Field Manager
  • Review contractor payments to subcontractors in MERS
  • Prepare certification letters, substantial completion letters, final inspections letters
  • Write letters to contractors/owners and expedite resolution for various issues (i.e. deficiency lists)
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals
  • Prepare project status and other reports
  • Prepare project records for MDOT audits and/or other agencies, including internal project self-audits
  • Monitor task budgets and progress
  • Assist Project Managers with duties as assigned
  • Attend client, public, project and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, pre-construction, etc.
  • Attend seminars and/or training classes
  • Maintain excellent client relations
  • Maintain a safe working environment
Education:
  • High School Diploma
Skills/

Experience:
  • Minimum of two years of experience with Field Manager and/or AASHTOWare
  • MDOT Certified Office Technician (active)
  • Prior MDOT document experience/training
  • Computer proficient
  • Valid driver's license
