Location:Taylor, MI (Primary Site)
Travel:Local travel to nearby company facilities (approx. 25%, Metro Detroit area)
Schedule:1st Shift | Monday–Friday, Start and End times are flexible

About the Role

Oakwood Group is seeking a Facilities Supervisor in our Manufacturing environment to oversee facilities maintenance activities (including but not limited to cleaning, systems maintenance, utilities repairs, etc.) across multiple company locations in the Metro Detroit area. This role is based at our Taylor, MI facility and supports nearby sites.

This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who takes pride in clean, safe, well‑run facilities and enjoys working with people. You’ll lead union and non‑union employees, partner with leadership and union representatives, and ensure our buildings are always organized, compliant, and “hotel‑ready.”

What You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Oversee facilities maintenance and building operations across multiple manufacturing locations
  • Maintain building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, lighting, fire protection, and general infrastructure
  • Lead and support a team of facilities technicians and janitorial staff across multiple shifts
  • Drive 5S, housekeeping, and visual standards to keep all sites clean, organized, and audit‑ready
  • Ensure readiness for fire alarm testing, inspections, and environmental compliance
  • Use the CMMS to assign work, track preventive maintenance, and prioritize repairs
  • Coordinate vendors and contractors (HVAC, waste, landscaping, snow removal, janitorial, etc.)
  • Manage time & attendance, performance evaluations, coaching, and day‑to‑day employee support
  • Collaborate closely with plant leadership, ownership, and union representatives
  • Participate in an on‑call rotation to support facilities issues outside normal hours
  • Occasionally assist with product or equipment movement between locations
What We’re Looking ForRequired
  • 5+ years of experience in facilities, building maintenance, or industrial maintenance
  • 3+ years of supervisory or lead experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection)
  • Experience supervising union employees or working in a union environment
  • Comfortable supporting multiple locations and traveling locally as needed
  • Strong communication and people skills — collaborative, fair, and professional
  • Experience using a CMMS and basic Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to participate in an on‑call rotation and occasional off‑shift support
Preferred
  • Automotive or Tier 1 / Tier 2 manufacturing experience
  • Technical certifications or education (HVAC, Facilities, Industrial Maintenance)
  • Experience with capital projects, budgeting, or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lean / 5S experience
