We are looking for a skilled individual to join our team as a Tool and Die Maker!

Position Purpose

The Tool and Die Maker are responsible for fabricating, assembling, and maintaining precision dies and metal tooling used in manufacturing operations. This role involves interpreting technical drawings and schematics, machining and shaping components, assembling finished tools, and testing products to ensure accuracy, performance, and quality standards. Success in this position requires strong knowledge of metalworking and engineering principles, attention to detail, and the ability to visualize and construct complex mechanical components for production use.

Core

Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe behavior and operation, be an active participant in the safety culture and improvement opportunities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings.
  • Visualize and compute metal shapes, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Design jigs and templates to support fabrication.
  • Measure and mark metal stock for machining.
  • Set up and operate machine tools including drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines.
  • Cut and shape metal blocks to specified dimensions.
  • File, grind, and shim metals to achieve proper finish and fit.
  • Fit and assemble tools and die components.
  • Inspect finished dies and tools for defects and accuracy.
  • Conduct test runs with completed tools and dies to ensure manufacturability and quality of finish parts.
  • Support lean manufacturing principles and apply to the tool and die / machining operations – 5S, visual management, etc.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of machine tools and metalworking processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Experience with drills, milling machines, grinders, and lathes.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience performing quality control inspections and analysis.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision
  • Ability to visualize mechanical components and tooling assemblies.
  • Computer skills and literacy – Microsoft Office tools, CAD, etc.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and safely operate large machinery.
  • Strong quality control and inspection skills.
  • Mechanical Aptitude:
    Strong understanding of machines, tools, and manufacturing processes.
  • Precision:
    Ability to use precision measuring tools and work with high accuracy to meet strict specifications.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Experience with operating and setting up various types of machinery.
  • Problem‑Solving:
    Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and find effective solutions.
Education & Experience
  • Certificate in metal machining, tool and die, or similar. Bachelor’s degree a plus.
  • Experience working as a Tool and Die Maker.
Safety & Housekeeping
  • Strictly follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Work with machine operators to ensure the correct setup and ongoing operation of the machinery.
Work Environment &

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and tooling components.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and operate large machinery.
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts and metalworking equipment.
  • Advanced troubleshooting ability and attention to detail.
  • Manual Dexterity:
    Required for handling tools and making delicate adjustments.
