Part Time Deli Clerk

Job Summary

Slices, packages, and weighs various deli products, including meats and cheeses. Maintains the presentation and cleanliness of the deli, including deli display cases. Provides assistance to Members in the deli department.

• Maintain visible accurate signage; keep clean and organized inside and out.
• Understand how to access and read production and/or financial performance reporting for the department.

• Provide a high level of customer service; answer questions; recommend deli items; handle calls; take special orders.
• Slices, packages, weighs deli products; helps members select correct products; samples product to assist purchasing decisions; prepares and packages special orders and party trays.
• Receives and inspects deli shipments; displays, stocks, rotates, and stores deli products following food safety, food freshness, and product handling policies.
• Ensures all products are fresh and meet company quality standards; checks for out-of-date products daily; follows salvage policies.
• Ensures deli cooler shelves and display cases have variety of product; stocks and rotates items when necessary.
• Operates and handles deli equipment in accordance with safety policies; cleans and sanitizes equipment and surfaces, including ovens, utensils, refrigerated cases, and deli cooler.
• Ensures scale systems are working; items weighed and priced accurately.
• Maintains all club policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Attendance is required; maintain regular and predictable full attendance.

• Work experience in a deli department preferred.
• Prior experience operating manual/power slicers and scales preferred.
• Knowledge of deli products preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.

Most of the time is spent moving about frequently on hard surfaces. May need to examine or scan merchandise by bending, reaching, or stooping. Frequently requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds and at times heavier with assistance. Work in a comfortable indoor environment with exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers; frequent exposure to cleaning agents. Familiarity with AI tools like ChatGPT is valued but not required.
