Deli Specialist

Job Summary

Slice, package, weigh, and sell a variety of deli products, including meats and cheeses. Maintain the presentation and cleanliness of the deli, including display cases and equipment. Provide assistance to members in the deli department, ensuring a safe and positive environment. Support club policies, procedures, and compliance, and contribute to team efforts to achieve store goals.

• Provide a high level of customer service to members, answering questions and recommending deli items.
• Answers member calls and takes special orders.
• Slides, packages, and weighs deli products, ensuring accurate labeling and pricing.
• Samples products to aid members in purchasing decisions.
• Prepares and packages special orders and party trays.
• Receives and inspects deli shipments, checking for quality and compliance.
• Displays, stocks, rotates, and stores deli products according to food safety and freshness policies.
• Ensures that all products are fresh and meet quality standards; checks for out‑of‑date items daily.
• Maintains the deli cooler shelves and display cases with a diverse range of products.
• Operates and handles deli equipment safely, following all policies and procedures.
• Cleans and sanitizes deli equipment and food surfaces throughout the department.
• Maintains working scale systems, ensuring accurate weighing and pricing.
• Upholds all club policies and procedures.
• Performs additional duties as assigned, including work in other departments.
• Maintains regular, predictable, full attendance.

• Work experience in a deli department preferred.
• Prior experience operating manual or power slicers and scales preferred.
• Knowledge of deli products preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.

Most of the time is spent moving about frequently on hard surfaces. Workers must occasionally position themselves to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, handling, pulling, reaching, or stooping. The job requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds, and may involve lifting and moving heavy or awkward objects of greater than 30 pounds with assistance. The position is located in a comfortable indoor environment with frequent exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers.

Workers may be exposed to cleaning agents.

Pay range starts at $16.75 per hour, with variability based on location, education, experience, and qualifications.
