General Position Summary

Store Managers are the heart and soul of the Lids brand. They foster the passion for sporting and fashion goods by meeting the needs of customers while ensuring all areas of the store are engaged. Store Managers are accountable for every aspect of the retail store performance, including achieving key results, creating a fun and inclusive environment for their team, and delivering exceptional customer service by offering their expertise on Lids’ products and services.

Principle

Duties and Responsibilities – People & Training
  • Manage hiring strategy, including planning needs, recruitment strategy, projected turnover, and leaves of absence.
  • Assist in onboarding new team members.
  • Engage team members by creating a fun and productive environment.
  • Contribute to a respectful and inclusive team environment by establishing supportive relationships and adhering to Lids Standards (e.g., company dress code).
  • Perform people-related actions to update team member information, approve time off requests, shift swaps, and manage employee records.
  • Lead and monitor ongoing training strategy, including training non-Keyholders, process changes, promotions, job changes, and new programs.
  • Address all employee concerns or issues and partner with internal support when appropriate.
  • Drive team engagement through recognition, continuous check‑ins, performance management, and documentation when relevant.
  • Collaborate across store channels and/or districts using company discussion boards or district and regional chat platforms.
Customer Experience
  • Lead and execute Lids selling strategy to achieve key performance indicators and sales targets while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Resolve customer feedback and address issues in the moment, including escalations.
  • Manage and direct in‑store team members to ensure optimal customer service.
  • Ensure every customer is offered the opportunity to participate in Lids membership programs or special in‑store offers through employee education.
Operations
  • Manage compliance within scheduling and payroll process.
  • Plan, prepare, and manage the schedule to maintain efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage business disruptions and provide operational continuity.
  • Execute operations-focused company‑level directives, promotions, and initiatives.
  • Adhere to Policies & Procedures Manual to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain store technology and equipment by conducting daily audits, verifying functionality, and ordering repairs as needed.
  • Maintain store facilities, supplies, and services.
  • Effectively manage cash, including opening/closing till, counterfeit protection practices, and bank drops.
  • Prepare store for inventory audits and support during audits.
Product & Inventory Management
  • Drive overall store product strategy, supervising receiving, processing, merchandising, and exiting through purchase or transfer.
  • Organize backroom to maximize efficiency.
  • Ensure integrity of product held to vendor-specific regulations.
  • Lead execution of weekly markdowns and markups.
  • Monitor and manage sell‑through by tracking product levels and ensuring inventory accuracy.
  • Manage transfers or ship‑backs according to company standards.
  • Execute optimal layout and visual merchandising strategy.
  • Maintain the look and feel of the store through day‑to‑day visual merchandising actions.
