Head Mechanic – Vac Truck Fleet

As our U.S. operations continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Head Mechanic to join our team in Taylor, Michigan
.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is self-motivated, organized, and capable of taking ownership of the maintenance and reliability of our growing fleet.

$50.00 - $55.00 per hour
, based on experience.

Monday-Friday, Day Shift – In-Shop Role

Overtime and occasional weekend or emergency breakdown support may be required based on business needs.

• Manage the day-to-day operation and organization of the Taylor maintenance shop;
• Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on diesel trucks and specialty equipment;
• Maintain a growing fleet including vacuum trucks, commercial vehicles, trailers, and related equipment
  ;
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems;
• Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules;
• Prioritize repairs to minimize downtime and maintain fleet availability;
• Conduct or coordinate DOT inspections and ensure equipment meets applicable safety requirements;
• Respond to breakdowns and coordinate outside repairs when necessary;
• Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and inspection documentation;
• Manage parts, tools, shop supplies, and inventory;
• Work closely with Operations to plan maintenance around business needs;
• Identify opportunities to improve fleet reliability, maintenance costs, and shop efficiency;
• Provide technical direction to additional mechanics or shop staff as the operation grows.

• 7+ years of heavy-duty diesel or fleet maintenance experience preferred
  ;
• Previous experience as a Lead Mechanic, Shop Foreman, Fleet Supervisor
  , preferred;
• Experience maintaining commercial truck fleets;
• Experience with vacuum trucks, hydrovac equipment, or similar specialty equipment strongly preferred;
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and air systems;
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills;
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment and read schematics;
• Experience managing preventative maintenance programs;
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills;
• Must be self-motivated and comfortable working independently with limited supervision
  ;
• Must have own tools;
• CDL Class A or B preferred, or willingness to obtain;
• High school diploma or GED;
• Ability to pass required drug screening and background check.
