Overview

We are seeking an experienced
Fuel Truck Mechanic to join our Houston-based maintenance team. The ideal candidate is a skilled technician with a strong background in heavy-duty truck repair and diagnostics, particularly with fuel delivery equipment. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and major/minor repairs on fuel trucks and associated components.
This position is primarily based in a truck shop environment; however, remote service and road service calls when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy-duty fuel trucks and related systems
• Conduct preventive maintenance and DOT-compliant inspections
• Diagnose and repair engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, fuel delivery systems, brakes, suspensions, and drive trains
• Utilize diagnostic software and tools to identify performance issues (Cummins Insite experience preferred)
• Respond to remote service and road service calls when required
• Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and documentation
• Ensure all repairs meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, drivers, and fleet managers regarding repair status and needed parts
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in heavy truck maintenance or a similar role
• Must supply personal hand tools; company provides all major shop tools
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic skills
• Certifications preferred (ASE, OEM certifications, diesel tech certificates, etc.)
• Cummins Insite experience preferred; additional OEM diagnostic experience is a plus
• Lite fabrication skills, welding, cutting, and fabrication experience are a plus
• Valid driver's license required
• CDL with HAZMAT endorsement are required within 90 days of employment if not currently held
• Ability to lift, move, and handle heavy components as needed
• Strong understanding of DOT and safety regulations

Schedule

• Normal schedule:
  Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• May be required to work overtime during emergency situations or natural disasters
