AFTERNOON SHIFT MANAGER (Automotive Warehousing & Distribution (U.S.)
Position Type: Direct Hire
Shift Start Time
: 4:30pm-1:00am, Monday - Thursday
Location: Taylor, MI
Position SummaryThe Afternoon Shift Manager oversees all warehouse and distribution operations during the afternoon/evening shift. This role is responsible for achieving production targets, maintaining a safe work environment, and leading a team to meet customer requirements in a fast-paced automotive logistics setting.
Key Responsibilities Operations & Production- Manage all shift activities: receiving, warehousing, picking, packing, and shipping
- Ensure production targets, KPIs, and customer delivery requirements are met
- Allocate labor and resources to maximize efficiency and throughput
- Coordinate with transportation and inventory teams for smooth material flow
- Enforce all health and safety policies and procedures
- Lead safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safe equipment operation
- Promote a strong safety-first culture
- Supervise, coach, and develop team leads and hourly staff
- Manage attendance, performance, and disciplinary actions
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training
- Foster accountability and a positive team environment
- Ensure product quality and adherence to customer specifications
- Address and resolve operational and quality issues
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting
- Provide daily shift reports (production, safety, staffing)
- Ensure effective handoff and communication with other shifts
- Escalate issues and risks as needed
- 3–5+ years of leadership experience in warehousing, logistics, or automotive supply chain
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory control
- Automotive/JIT experience preferred
- Knowledge of workplace health & safety standards
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
