Responsibilities
- Coordinate, regulate, and distribute electricity in accordance with ERCOT protocols and operating guides.
- Ensure reliable operation of the ERCOT electric system and compliance with ERCOT Protocols, Operating Guides, NERC reliability standards, and market rules.
- Process market participants’ balanced schedules for energy and ancillary services.
- Manage frequency control, congestion, voltage control, and ancillary services deployment.
- Post and record all required information for settlement, accounting, and auditing.
- Evaluate abnormal operating conditions or system problems and coordinate solutions with operating entities and market participants.
- Implement and coordinate time‑error corrections, operating condition notices, advisories, watches, and emergency operation plans.
- Provide on‑the‑job training, oversee work of less experienced operators, and act as mentor and advisor.
- Work independently on assignments and tasks; assist in developing tools, processes, and procedures that enhance system reliability and efficiency.
- Participate with other ERCOT departments to select and implement system changes as needed.
- Minimum of 2 years of job‑related experience for Level 2, 3 years for Level 3, and 5 years for Senior Level beyond degree requirements.
- High School Diploma or GED required (or equivalent education and experience).
- Certifications:
NERC RC certification required for all levels; ERCOT System Operator certification required for Senior Level. - Experience in real‑time operations, system reliability, and market processes is essential.
- Strong analytical, judgment, and communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
Must be able to work rotating day/night 12‑hour shifts. Sedentary work.
Work LocationOnsite in Taylor, TX (just northeast of Austin).
Salary and LevelSalary will be based on overall experience and determined by ERCOT.
