Job DutiesLead team to support real‑time stability assessment in the operation horizon, including online TSAT and dynamic event analysis and model validation, to ensure continuing reliable operations of the electric power grid in compliance with NERC standards, ERCOT Protocols and Market Guides. Work with technical teams to ensure technical content of operations activities and procedures are reviewed and maintained. Work with Market Participants to ensure reliable operation of the ERCOT Grid.
Schedule work for employees and provide on‑the‑job training as needed. Supervise and provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring including performance appraisals and other management responsibilities. Lead a team to review and maintain TSAT model. Develop and maintain online TSAT scenarios. Lead a team to perform post dynamic event analysis and dynamic model validation using PMU and/or DFR data. Act as the Subject Matter Expert for the ERCOT Guides and Protocols and the NERC Standards for Operations Stability.
Coordinate with other ERCOT teams and market participants to improve dynamic models and interconnection process. Provide operations engineering support for other ERCOT support personnel as needed. Formulate recommendations for changes to ERCOT Protocol and Guides. Support ERCOT by working with various ERCOT subcommittees, working groups and task forces. Represent ERCOT on industry committees, subcommittees, working groups and task forces as assigned.
May telecommute up to 3 days per week from within the State of Texas.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering.
Minimum ExperienceFive (5) years of experience as Transmission Planning Engineer or Grid Operations Engineer.
Special RequirementsThe required five (5) years of experience as Transmission Planning Engineer or Grid Operations Engineer must have included planning or system operations for electric power grid and TSAT dynamic simulation.
