Job Summary
- Acquire the skills and knowledge to provide engineering and analytical support for the wholesale market and grid operations.
- Prepare and validate models of the electric power systems.
- Apply principles of electricity market theory to understand market behavior and outcomes.
- Investigate methods for data analysis to develop improved analytical tools.
- Monitor and analyze the wholesale electricity market and provide market reports per requests and protocols.
- Assist management and senior experts in providing technical assistance to the Public Utility Commission of Texas, industry and stakeholder groups.
- Recommend, review and test proposed changes to ERCOT wholesale market systems and design.
- Ensure wholesale market activities are completed per protocols and work closely with market participants to resolve issues concerning market and grid operations.
- Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of the wholesale market and ERCOT grid operations to support market participant business needs.
- Anticipate and resolve issues within the wholesale market and grid operations using power engineering knowledge.
- Propose and create new solutions for data acquisition and reporting.
- Attend stakeholder, industry, and PUCT meetings and provide input when requested.
- Provide remedies for Market Participant disputes and address participant questions regarding daily market and grid operations.
- Escalate issues to the supervisor or manager in a timely manner when necessary.
- Develop strong working relationships with other internal departments.
- Perform engineering studies using ERCOT network models to analyze system conditions and events.
- Test and validate changes to market applications.
- Level I: 0+ years of working experience in electric utility industry.
- Level II: 2+ years of working experience in electric utility industry.
- Level III: 3+ years of working experience in electric utility industry.
- Proficient technical skills with common business applications such as SQL, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge.
SalaryExpected Salary Range: $87,000 - $120,000
