Position SummaryThe primary function of this position is to apply failure analysis methods and project management skills to provide timely and accurate support for failure analysis submissions. Tasks include setting up a failure analysis plan for assigned jobs, reviewing background information, evaluating FA hardware/software readiness, estimating timelines, creating testing plans, and reporting FA findings to internal and external customers. Working with foundry customer representatives and other engineering teams to resolve issues and identify root causes is a key part of the role.
Candidates must collaborate across the organization to deliver timely results, root‑cause findings, and help drive corrective actions in a fast‑paced semiconductor environment. Flexibility in work schedule is required. Three to six months of on‑the‑job training will be provided.
- Conduct physical failure analysis on low‑yield lots, baseline material, qualifications, and customer requests.
- Identify the cause of failure by performing sample selection and selecting optimal analysis techniques for fast and accurate results for both internal and external customers.
- Support manufacturing and engineering teams with physical failure analysis results for new process and product introduction, and product transfer activities with Integration and Process Engineering teams.
- Represent the Analysis Engineering department in foundry customer meetings, providing on‑time analysis results.
- Analyze electrical and imaging results to find the root cause of issues and publish findings to team members and customers.
- Recommend analysis approaches based on customer failure‑mode data and internal electrical isolation results.
- Generate and compile quality FA reports for internal and external customers to assist in issue resolution.
- All positions are full‑time, on‑site.
- B.S. to Ph.D. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or a closely related discipline.
- Strong understanding of FinFET technology and transistor‑level electrical characteristics.
- Basic knowledge of wafer/die‑level FA methodology and strong analytical thinking.
- Strong project‑management, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Team‑oriented, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a fast‑paced, multitasking environment.
- Ability to refine complex FA data into Fab‑language summaries; experience in generating FA reports is a plus.
- Hands‑on experience with FA tools and techniques (SEM, FIB, PVC, OBIRCH, PEM) is a plus.
- Ability to interpret FA data and electrical data from die level down to transistor level is a plus.
- Experience with layout software (Camelot and/or Avalon) and handling customer returns FA is a plus.
- Experience developing new FA techniques is a plus.
The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 and $145,000. Base pay depends on duties, location, education, skills, and experience. Total compensation may include a competitive benefits package and participation in company incentive compensation programs.
