Implant Process Engineer – Anneal​/Surface Treatment

Position Summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Process Engineer for the Implant department to establish and maintain world‑class processes and equipment, and implement yield enhancement as a competitive advantage. The role involves new process qualification, tool‑to‑tool output matching, process controls, and maintaining process health.

• Qualify wafer fabrication processes on new tools.
• Gather metrology data during tool qualification and ensure film properties meet specifications.
• Transfer and duplicate recipes across lines, ensuring process matching across fabs and between tools using statistical tools.
• Monitor wafer fabrication by responding to in‑line issues and abnormal dispositions.
• Create troubleshooting plans and apply corrective actions.
• Use Spotfire, JMP, MATLAB, or Excel to analyze data for SPC, trend analysis, and root‑cause investigations.
• Implement Change‑Point Management (CPM) and defense‑lines to prevent excursions.
• Draft, review, and update SOPs and process reference books.
• Train technicians on SOPs.
• Maintain detailed logs of daily tool activity and lessons learned.
• Collaborate across departments, vendors, and teams to improve yield, reliability, cost, and throughput.

Work hours:

1st shift, Mon‑Fri, 8am‑5pm.

• BS or MS in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 2+ years semiconductor experience, with knowledge of Thermal Anneal (RTP) or Surface Treatment / Dry Etch processes & equipment.
• Experience with tools such as AMAT Centura/Radiance/DPN/DPX/DSA/Ajax Mattson Millios/Suprema/Escala LAM Argos Semes HPA/LOHAS Veeco LSA.
• Understanding of statistical methods, SPC, and Change‑Point Management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows applications.
• Experience with data analysis tools (Spotfire, JMP, MATLAB, etc.).
• Experience scripting in Python, VBA, or an equivalent language.
• Able to wear a clean‑room suit and PPE, lift < 35lbs, and work in a FAB environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; teamwork; willingness to learn from failures; ability to present technical information across teams.
• Exposure to yellow lights, blinking lights, and audible alarms; potential hazardous chemicals.
• Structured problem‑solving skills (8D, 7‑step, etc.).

The current base salary range for this role is $70,480 – $212,650, dependent on duties, location, education, skills, and experience. Total compensation includes a competitive benefits package and may include participation in incentive compensation programs.
