Position Summary

The Gas and Chemical Systems (GCS) Bulk Gas Engineering Team Lead role is focused on leading an engineering team that comprehensively owns, maintains, supports, and improves specialty and bulk gas equipment within a leading semiconductor manufacturing environment in the Austin, Texas area. As part of the Bulk Gas team, you will provide support by interacting with on-site operations and maintenance teams, associated vendors, and internal customer groups to ensure world-class performance of equipment providing critical supply to manufacturing operations.

This position leads the engineering team and ensures effective collaboration with operations and maintenance teams, as well as customer groups, to provide world-class equipment performance in the supply of gases supporting production.

This role is also responsible for supporting the planning, construction, startup, and commissioning of new equipment, as well as the development and execution of projects to improve safety, quality, and reliability. The role will include management and oversight of Hazardous Production Materials (HPM) and places a premium on safety leadership and technical expertise.

Role and Responsibilities

Here's what you'll be responsible for:

  • Lead and participate in safety initiatives, programs, and activities to drive world-class safety performance while fostering a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical expertise and ownership for bulk gas supply systems, safety and quality standards, and continuous improvement efforts. The engineer will interact with operations teams, maintenance teams, construction teams, and equipment vendors to sustain and optimize equipment performance.
  • Troubleshoot emergent equipment issues and provide technical direction to drive effective resolutions.
  • Work with maintenance teams to plan and execute non-standard equipment maintenance to address failures or implement system improvements.
  • Communicate and coordinate with engineering and manufacturing groups to provide technical support, supply issue resolution, and collaboration for improved safety, quality, and system reliability.
  • Support the team through commissioning and startup of new equipment installations.
  • Lead and support Management of Change (MOC) activities for Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) covered processes.
Skills and Qualifications

Here's what you'll need:

  • Previous bulk gas experience from industrial gas providers such as Linde, Air Products, Messer, Matheson, Airgas, or similar organizations; alternatively, significant experience supporting bulk gas or specialty gas systems within a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant engineering, operations, or facility support experience.
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) and/or Risk Management Plan (RMP) programs.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to represent the organization to engineering customers, procurement and finance teams, vendors, and executive leadership.
