Sr Manager - Market Credit Analysis

Responsibilities

• Lead ongoing management of the ERCOT Market Credit Department, including development of credit methodology, processes, and capabilities.
• Assess market participant creditworthiness and ensure appropriate risk mitigation measures are maintained (adequate collateral, liens, etc.).
• Handle inquiries from Market Participants and manage daily collateral transactions.
• Ensure vendors meet financial requirements and maintain internal controls over credit processes.
• Drive operational goals of the department, implementing best practices and process improvements.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to communicate issues and improvements.
• Hire, coach, train, and manage the performance of staff, providing guidance on budgeting and financial decisions that affect the department.
• Oversee day‑to‑day credit operations, including collateral management, assessment of creditworthiness, and response to credit inquiries.
• Develop and revise credit policies, evaluate effectiveness, and recommend and implement process improvements, including automation opportunities.
• Ensure effective internal controls over credit processes and coordinate implementation and testing of credit system enhancements.
• Maintain communication with external stakeholders—including ERCOT, PUCT, and other regulators—and internal stakeholders such as senior management, settlements, legal, and treasury.
• Obtain financial information on new and existing market participants and vendors; review financial positions and document findings.
• Establish and monitor collateral requirements and daily calculated exposures.
• Provide credit risk reports to management and maintain collateral documentation to ensure mitigation measures are enforceable.
• Review reports to determine collection status of outstanding balances and pursue collection of unpaid accounts.
• Communicate credit issues and coordinate activities in the event of a default by a Market Participant.
• Maintain awareness of best practices in credit risk management and coordinate credit work‑group meetings and activities.

• Minimum 10 years of related work experience, including 3 years in a leadership role and 8 years of progressively responsible credit management, financial, settlements, or market operations experience.
• Experience in the electric utility, energy, or ISO/RTO industries is preferred.
• Strong mathematical, financial, and accounting competency sufficient to understand financial statements and credit assessment concepts.

• Required:
  
  Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Preferred:
  Master’s Degree.

On‑site in Taylor, TX at a minimum of two days per week, with the option to work remotely from a Texas residence. Employees may choose to work on‑site beyond the required minimum.

Estimated range: $173,000 – $238,000.
