Brief Description
The purpose of this position is to develop and maintain relationships with customers, elected officials, community organizations, and municipalities for the Brazos River Authority (BRA). Responsibilities include assisting the Legislative & Governmental Affairs (LGA) Manager with government and public affairs by assisting with the development of BRA legislative strategies; developing and maintaining good working relationships with local elected officials and decision makers;
and communicating BRA priorities with local and state elected officials to help implement BRA legislative strategies. This is accomplished by creating general correspondences; staying abreast of BRA programs, issues, and state planning efforts; performing customer outreach; attending and speaking at public meetings; corresponding with local, state, and federal agencies; coordinating communication strategies with the LGA Manager and the Public Information Officer;
maintaining a positive relationship with media representatives and the public; gathering intelligence about a variety of issues including problems, business opportunities, and issues of interest and sharing that information with the appropriate individual at the BRA; coordinating with BRA staff on project development strategies and offering local and legislative expertise; acting as a liaison between the BRA and the local basin stakeholders;
scheduling, planning, and participating in outside meetings on behalf of the BRA; providing reports to management; working with outside consultants; interacting with other employees and the public; and any other duties as assigned.

- Residing within a 50-mile radius of The Texas State Capitol
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License and a Good Driving Record
- Minimum three years' experience in local/regional/state government and public relations
Bachelors Degree (in related field) - Completed course requirements to earn a Bachelor's degree in the field related to the position and is expected to utilize this level of education during the work day to the benefit of the organization.
