Seeking an experienced MMS Application Engineer to support and enhance Market Management Systems (MMS) applications used in energy market and grid operations environments.
The role involves design, development, testing, implementation, troubleshooting, and support of applications related to:
- Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED)
- Day-Ahead Market (DAM)
- Reliability Unit Commitment (RUC)
- Congestion Revenue Rights (CRR)
- Market simulators and related interfaces
This position supports mission-critical market applications in a 24/7 operational environment.
Key Responsibilities- Support, troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance MMS applications and interfaces
- Participate in 24/7 on-call production support rotation
- Design, test, validate, and implement application enhancements and fixes
- Support system failovers, disaster recovery drills, and business continuity procedures
- Coordinate testing and application setup activities with market participants and stakeholders
- Perform MMS model load testing and real-time model updates
- Support server, database, infrastructure, and application upgrades/patching activities
- Work closely with database administrators and infrastructure teams on complex application issues
- Participate in multifunctional teams for studies, projects, and production support initiatives
- Create and improve tools, procedures, and processes to enhance system reliability
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers and analysts
- Serve as technical lead and subject matter expert for complex MMS projects and implementations
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience supporting MMS/EMS/GMS applications
- Experience working in utility, ISO/RTO, energy trading, or power market environments
- Strong understanding of energy market systems and grid operations
- Experience supporting real-time and day-ahead market applications
- Strong troubleshooting and production support skills
- Experience with Hitachi ABB or other MMS vendor platforms
- Experience with OSIsoft PI or similar data historian technologies
- Experience with:
- FORTRAN
- C/C++
- Java
- Perl
- PL/SQL
- Experience with high-availability systems, disaster recovery, and infrastructure coordination
- Hybrid role based in Taylor, TX
- Minimum 2 days onsite weekly
- Participation in 24/7 on-call support rotation required
