UPW/IWT Piping Sr. Technician - Welder
Job SummaryResponsible for maintaining Ultra-Pure Water and Industrial Wastewater piping systems to provide continuous, safe, and high-quality utilities to the Samsung Austin Semiconductor fab. Operates with little to no supervision and ensures equipment/process integrity.
Responsibilities- Prioritize daily tasks and work independently on new projects or assignments.
- Demonstrate adaptability to changing priorities and work environments.
- Communicate effectively with customers and supervision to ensure quality and safety.
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, soldering, brazing, or welding equipment.
- Diagnose and correct piping issues in the field.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical school certification preferred (State Plumbing License or equivalent).
- Typically requires 5+ years of experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate all necessary tools and equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of Poly Pro / PVDF piping and welding.
- Ability to read and understand pipe prints.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States (no sponsorship required).
- Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Work around moving mechanical parts in outdoor conditions (weather, heat, humidity).
- May work in a clean room or tight-fitting, fab environment.
- May be required to support or work shift duties in a 24x7 manufacturing environment.
- Extensive use of computers for data entry, documentation, analysis, and internal communication.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, One Note).
- Familiarity with enterprise CMMS (Computer-Aided Maintenance Management System) software and Confluence for task management, issue tracking, and collaboration.
Shift work; assignment upon hire and subject to change based on business needs.
