JOBSUMMARY
Operates and performs both routine and emergency service and installation on a variety of state of the art critical facilities and data center electrical systems. Responsible for the overall availability and reliability for 24/7 mission critical data center/ control center operation. Operates, monitors and maintains all critical facilities and data center electrical systems infrastructure, including but not limited to; medium voltage switch gear, diesel generators, paralleling switchboards, UPS, PDU, mechanical heat rejection systems, computer room air handlers, fire detection/suppression and building monitoring systems.
Ensures proper installation and load balancing for all IT and critical facility infrastructure. Responsible for the safe operation of equipment and proper work methods that are related to the safety of subordinates, fellow workers, and the general public.

- Typically acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience. May assign tasks and provide guidance to lower level colleagues.
- Helps install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, power supply wiring, equipment, and electronic components for efficient operation and adherence with relevant codes with in the critical infrastructure
- Diagnoses problems and performs electrical repairs and replacements on all critical equipment and systems
- Review equipment failures and deliver detailed root cause analysis and post mortem reports
- Recommend, document and implement procedural improvements in a continuous effort to maintain operational excellence and achieve targeted uptime
- Prepares and presents estimates of cost of parts, equipment, and supplies of proposed installation or repairs
- Ensures availability and capacity targets are achieved and maintained for data centers and critical infrastructure for all ERCOT facilities
- Provide stand-by and emergency maintenance on an as-needed basis
- Maintains a strong technical knowledge of electronic controls, power wiring, microprocessor building control systems, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, heating systems and electrical distribution
- Assists in planning and designing of new installations of electrical and data processing systems
- Maintains maintenance records as required by NERC, SSAE
16, City, State and EPA regulations - Interprets building, NEC, state, and local codes and regulations as they relate to electrical installation
- Plan layout and installation of wiring, conduits and apparatus throughout ERCOT mission critical facilities
- Plan layout and installation of wiring, conduits and apparatus within mission critical data centers, control centers and server cabinets
- Tests IT equipment and new installations to measure performance, determine need for adjustment, and verify specified operation for power redundancy. Create detailed documentation of installations and maintenance processes
- Monitor critical facility equipment operation by conducting facility walkthroughs and system monitoring
- Participates in the preparation of analyses and reports on the data center and critical infrastructure
- Performs and documents weekly and monthly tests on electrical equipment according to the NERC guidelines
- Coordinates and inspects the work of outside contractors to ensure quality of workmanship
- Requires minimum 5 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements
- Requires minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience with electrical, power and mechanical equipment including generators, PDUs, UPS, switch gear, DC power systems and building monitoring/control systems
