Full-time maintenance position, 40 hours per week (5/8's). No per diem and no relocation assistance.
Role OverviewThe HVAC Operator is responsible for performing installs, repairs, and maintenance on a variety of equipment including refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, compressors, boilers, burners, fans, economizers, humidifiers, capacity controls, split systems, flame safeguards, air compressors, driers, and packaged units throughout the district. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities- Analyze, plan, and perform preventive maintenance of HVAC systems.
- Plan shutdowns for maintenance and repair of chill water, heating water, and condensation pumps.
- Perform brazing, soldering, pipe fitting, welding, and fabrication.
- Read complex blueprints, piping, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Inspect, monitor, repair, maintain, and operate mechanical systems, motors, compressors, pumps, fans, ducts, pipes, thermostats, and switches.
- Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilating, air conditioning, glycol, hot water, and steam distribution equipment to optimize performance and energy use.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and modify HVAC systems.
- Order and maintain parts needed to repair and maintain HVAC equipment.
- Manage relationships with all major vendor accounts.
- Safeguard district assets properly.
- Work wearing personnel protective equipment including rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, fire‑resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs, and safety glasses.
- Maintain full range of mobility and ability to work in various positions (stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, squatting, climbing stairs, working at heights, balancing for extended periods).
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience: 3–5 years of industrial experience, including work on chillers.
Must pass pre‑employment physical, drug screening, and background check as a condition of employment.
