Job Description

Job Title: Irrigation/Spray Technician

Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent. College degree in related field preferred.

2. Minimum of 5 years work related experience

3. Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a routine basis

4. Ability to perform strenuous physical labor on a daily basis

5. Work with limited supervision

6. Valid South Carolina Drivers License

7. Valid South Carolina Pesticide Applicators License

8. Experience in Commercial irrigation installation

9.

Experience with Central and Stand Alone irrigation controllers, Toro Sentinel central controller preferred

10. Knowledge of Commercial and Sportsturf irrigation, sprinkler head, valve, wiring, and piping systems

11.

Experience with all types of spraying applications including but not limited to backpack and self-contained 300gl motorized boom sprayer

12. Basic knowledge of weed identification and chemical usage

13. Basic knowledge of pest identification and chemical usage

14. Basic knowledge of turf fungus identification and chemical usage

15. Ability to accurately calibrate spraying equipment

Reports To: This person is directly responsible to the Master Foreman

Job Goal: To repair, maintain and program all irrigation systems and provide chemical weed, pest, and fungal control with large applications.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Ability to operate farm type tractors

2. Ability to operate self-contained riding sprayer

3. Ability to calibrate sprayer properly

4. Ability to use herbicides properly

5. Ability to use hand tools including saws, pipe cutters, Ohm meter, and electrical locator

6. Ability to repair and install all aspects of an irrigation system both residential and commercial

7. Ability to diagnose any and all irrigation piping, valve, wiring, controller and sprinkler head problems with system

8. Ability to fix, efficiently, and cost effectively, any and all problems diagnosed with irrigation system

9. Follow safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment

10. Availability for duty in the event of inclement weather or after hours emergencies

11. Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Terms of Employment:
Twelve Months with salary in Maintenance/Security/Warehouse Hourly Rate Schedule, GRADE H

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy
