This is a great position for someone needing flexibility and who has an interest in helping students succeed by supporting no-cost/low-cost alternatives to textbooks. The Open Educational Resources Coordinator reports to the Director of Open Educational Resources (OER) in the Office of Learning Advancement. This position supports the OER Office by managing day-to-day operations, coordinating projects, and open publishing efforts, while contributing to our Open Educational Resources and Open Practices.
ResponsibilitiesGeneral Office Support
- Provides program support, including scheduling meetings, organizing files, updating websites, coordinating events and workshop logistics and performing other support tasks as needed.
- Assist with purchasing, invoice processing, and basic budget tracking in coordination with the budget staff.
- Support the organization and management of contracts and related documentation, including Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and one-time payments.
- In partnership with academic departments and the scheduling office, maintain the OER schedule (3 times a year).
- Participate in data collection related to OER initiatives and organize data using Excel or similar tools.
- Assist with basic research to support the program and activities.
- Assist with managing the Open SLCC Grants program by helping plan, organize and track grant projects from proposals through publication.
- Provide basic pre and post grant administration tasks (e.g. updating forms, maintaining records, and gathering documentation for reports).
- Support open publishing activities and platforms.
- Perform other duties assigned to support program goals.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Autonomy and collaboration, including the ability to work independently, take initiative when appropriate and contribute effectively as a team member.
- Ability to effectively interact with internal and external partners in a positive and professional manner.
- Basic computer literacy skills, including MS Office suite, Google, and Windows OS.
- Dependable, with a sense of responsibility and reliability.
- Ability to perform work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing needs for efficient and effective service.
- Ability to adapt, learn, and assist users with both printed and electronic (online) resources.
- Willingness to learn and follow policies and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate output.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
- Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of experience in an administrative support role
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Associate’s degree
- Basic knowledge of Open Education principles
- Basic knowledge of publishing practices
